. DIESEL GENERATOR OPERABILITY Gentlemen:

On June 28,1985, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) requested a license amendment concerning action statements of Technical Specification 3.8.1.1 relative to -

surveillance testing of the diesel generators. Also included was a request, to allow the out-of-service time for one of the required offsite A. C. electrical power sources to be extended from 3 days to 7 days. During a recent telephone conversation, the staff informed CP&L that additional information is required to justify granting approval of the extended out-of-service time for an offsite circuit.

In order to reduce diesel wear, CP&L requests that those portions of the June 28,1985 license amendment request, found acceptable by the staff, be issued as soon as possible. contains Technical Specification pages, which specify 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> as the out-of-service time for one of the required offsite A. C. electrical power sources, the currently allowed value. Additional justification for extending this value will be supplied at a future date.
