This refers to the routine safety inspection conduci.cd by Messrs. I. J. Polich
and T. K. Kim of this office on January 4, 1987 through February 7, 1987 at
the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant of activities authorized by NRC License
No. DPR-18 and to the discussions of our findings by Mr. Polich with Messrs.
S. M. Spector and T. A. Meyer and other members of your staff periodically
during the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
However, a
concern was identified relative to the monthly surveillance testing of the
R-18, Liquid Radwaste Monitor, as discussed in Section 3.b. of the attached
report. You are requested to review this concern and provide the results of
your review in writing to this office within thirty days of the receipt of
this letter.
The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not
subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as
required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
