L ANNUNCIATOR MARKING 1.0 -

Purpose -

The purpose of this OPD is to specify how and when to mark annunciators that are in alarm or will be in alarm (normally due to testing). Annunciator marking will serve as a visual cue for the Operations Staff that will enable them to distinguish annunciators that are expected to come into alarm during testing from those that are no'. expected to come into alarm.

2.0 Responsibility All Operations Depanment personnel are. expected to comply with the requirements of this procedure.

3.0 Discussion 3.1 Annunciators will be marked in all plant modes using " Post-It" tape flags. Flags will be stuck to the annunciator tiles IAW the following color and position guideline:

GREEN FLAGS:

- Will be used in all plant modes to indicate an annunciator-that is in alarm and is EXPECTED TO BE IN ALARM FOR THE CURRENT PLANT CONDITION.

- Green flags will be affixed to annunciator tiles such that the green

- portion of the tape flag is in the LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER of the annunciator tile.

RED FLAGS:

- Will be used in all plant modes to indicate an annunciator that is NOT curretuly in alarm but is expected to come into alarm as part of a surveillance test or other plant procedure (OI-DG-1 or 2 is a good example). - Although many OP's department ST's do not indicate which annunciators are expected during the performance of the ST, some do and should be consulted prior to the stan of r.he test so that the -

annunciators can be marked ahead of time.

It is the responsibility of the surveillance test coordinator (usually one of the LO's on shift or an extra LSO/LO), to review the ST ahead of time and mark the annunciators as required just before the stan of the test.

- Red flags may also be used on annunciators that are already in alarm and are expected to " flash" during the perfonnance of a surveillance In this case, it is possible to have an annunciator tile with both test.

- red and green tape flags attached.

- Red flags will be affixed to annunciator tiles such th2t the red portion of the tape flag is in the UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER of the annunciator tile.

3.2 Upon completion of the surveillance test or when the condition causing the annunciators to come int) alarm no longe. exists, the tape flags shall be removed.

They may be reused if in good condition or discarded.
