PROPOSED LICENSE AMENDMENT - APPROVAL OF CONTROL R0D PORTION F TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE REQUEST FOR OPERATING CYCLE 22 (TAC 64087)
Re:
Big Rock Point Plant The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 88 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-6 for the Big Rock Point Plant. This amendment is in response to your application dated December 5,1986, as supplemented January 20 and February 4, 1987.
This amendment revises portions of Technical Specification Section 5.1 to reflect the use of new hybrid control rods, manufactured by NUCOM. Incorporated, in the Cycle 22 core. The proposed changes to Technical Specification Section 5.2 adopting existing core operating parameters to the Big Rock Point Reload I-2 fuel are unacceptable and have been denied in our letter dated February 12, 1987.
A copy of the staff's Evaluation approving the use of the new hybrid control rods in the Cycle 22 core is enclosed. The Notice of Issuance will be included in the Commission's biweekly Federal Reafster notices.
