SUBJECT:

EMERGENCY RESPONSE CAPABILITY - REGULATORY GUIDE 1.97 The Commission has completed the review of your responses dated April 13, 1984 and July 1, 1985 pertaining to the above subject matter for the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 2. Our evaluation concludes that your responses are acceptable.

However, there are two items for which we do not have adequate information.

The two items relate to the instrument rar.ge of the reactor coolant system pressure instrumentation and the lack of instrumentation to monitor containment sump water temperature. We request that you provide the additional information to resolve our concerns detailed in our Safety Evaluation related to the above-stated items within 60 days of receipt of this letter. Our Safety Evaluation with attached Technical Evaluation Report is enclosed.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents. Therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
