This refers to the meeting to review the 1986 SALP'for the Trojan Nuclear
Plant held with Mr. W. J. Lindblad and members of your staff at our offices
in' Walnut Creeks California,'on January 23, 1987.
Subjects-discussed during
the meeting are described in the enclosed inspection report provided for your
information.

The Region V staff found an' improving trend in the functional area of plant
operations,and encouraged your continued attention in this area.
Also, the
. staff noted initiatives in Quality Assurance and Engineering which demonstrate
'

the potential for improved performance.
These initiatives appear to hold
some promise'for improved performance, but as discussed in the subject'
meeting, the next few years are critical to ensure the success of. your
programs.
