Concerns About Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Control Room Environmental Envelope On October 8,1986 our resident inspectors received concerns from Mr. J.
Richard Jones about the environmental envelope for the control room of Nine Mile Point Unit 2 and the ventilation systems designed to maintain the temperatures and pressures in the control room within specified limits.
These concerns had been documented in a letter from Mr. Jones to Mr. John Conway dated August 1, 1986, with copies to other plant personnel. Mr. Jones stated that he had been unable-to get satisfactory resolution of his concerns from his supervision and did not feel that the Quality First Program could properly address them.
As you already have the details of Mr. Jones' concerns, we request that you provide us with a report of the results of your evaluation of this matter.
Further, we request that you evaluate why this matter was not resolved by your program for addressing worker concerns and report these findings also. To preclude any impact on the issuance of the operating license, we request that your report be expedited to the maximum extent practical.
