SUMMARY
- V0GTLE_ UNIT 1, DOCKET NO. 50-424 This letter refers to the meeting conducted at your request in the NRC Region II Office on September 16, 1986. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the safe and alternate shutdown analysis for Vogtle plant and the forthcoming safe shutdown and related fire protection inspection of Vogtle which is scheduled for October 6-10, 1986. Enclosed is a summary of the meeting topics and attendance list.
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial and provided for a better understanding of NRC's safe shutdown and fire protection inspecticn methodology and Georgia Power Company's safe shutdown analysis.

SUMMARY
Licensee: Georgia Power Company Facility: Vogtle Unit 1 Docket No.:
50-424 Facility License No.: CPPR-108 A meeting was held in the NRC Region II Office on September 16, 1986, to discuss Georgia Power's safe shutdown analysis for the Vogtle plant.
The licensee provided copies of the following preaudit information which had been requested by the Region II staff:
1.
Simplified P& ids showing systems required for hot and cold shutdown.
2.
List of safe shutdown equipment which identifies their plant location by fire zone and fire area.
3.
Equipment location drawings which show the locations of major mechanical and electrical equipment.
4.
Raceway and Cable Schedule computer program, EE580 printout which lists all safe shutdown circuits (includes spurious actuation circuits) and the raceways in which they are routed.
5.
Cable tray and conduit location drawings which indicate the physical layout.
6.
One line diagrams which show AC and DC power sources for plant equipment.
7.
Fire area drawings which identify the fire area and fire zone boundaries and fire protection equipment locations.
8.
Lighting and communications location drawings.
The emergency lights required for safe shutdown have been highlighted in yellow. Safe shutdown and access paths have been marked in red on a set of site and floor plans.

A sample separation and spuricus actuation analysis calculation.
10.
Fire Event Safety Shutdown Evaluation Summary Report, Control Room Fire Alternate Shutdown Evaluation Study No. X4S001, and Fire Event Safe Shutdown Evaluation Control / Repair Station Listing.

Procedure 18038-1, which is the abnormal operating procedure for operation from remote shutdown panels.

Procedure 92005-C, which is the general fire response procedure.

LEVEL 1 FIRE FIGHTING PREPLAN which is an example of a pre-fire plan.
