Teleconference dated August 6,1997, between the Commomvealth Edison Company and the Nuclear Regulatory Conunission.
The referenced letter transmitted the Commonwealth Edison Company (Comed) request to amend the Technical Specification for the reactor coolant system Dose Equivalent lodine-131 for Byron Unit 1. Subsequent to that transmit +al teleconferences were held to clarify information pertaining to the dose consumption in the unlikely event of a main steam line break. In the referenced teleconference the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requested the dose calculations for the control room, exclusion area boundary and low population zone. Attached are the exclusion area boundary and low population zone calculations. As a result of your review of the calculations you will conclude that the Loss of Coolant Accident dose consequences bound those for a main steam line break.
As discussed August 21,1997, the final control room calculation will be transmitted August 22, 1997.
Comed is looking forward to meeting with the Staff on August 26th to further discuss these calculations along with any additional issues related to the Technical Specification Amendment.
