CORRECTION TO SAFETY EVALUATION DATED JANUARY 6, 1987 CONCERNING CONFORMANCE TO REGULATORY GUIDE 1.97 In our letter of January 6,1987, a safety evaluation was issued for Calvert Cliffs Units 1 and 2 concerning your conformance to regulatory guide 1.97.

In this safety evaluation it was stated that you shall have the following instrumentation installed and operable for both units "at the first scheduled outage of sufficient duration, but no later than startup following the spring 1988 Unit 1 refueling outage":

Safety injection accumulator tank level or pressure narrow range containment sump water level containment sump water temperature component cooling flow to the engineered safety features system.

This schedule was in error as it was not in agreement with the requirements of the July 16, 1985 confirmatory order, " Order Modify License Confirming Additional Licensee Commitments on Emergency Response Capability (Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737)".

In accordance with this confirmatory order, the schedule for installing and making operable the instrumentation, above, shall be as follows:

l Unit 1 - Prior to startup following the Cycle 10 refueling outage (estimated.to be spring 1988).

Unit 2 - Prior to startup following the Cycle 9 refueling outage (estimated to be fall 1988).
