BEAVER VALLEY UNIT 1 - REDUCED DURATION TYPE A TEST FOR CONTAINMENT (TAC 61656)
By letters dated May 16 and July 21, 1986 you informed the NRC of your intention to perform all your future containment type A tests for reduced durations (i.e., less than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />). The provision for test durations of less than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> is contained in Bechtel Topical Report BN-TOP-1, " Testing Criteria for Integrated Leak Rate Testing of Primary Contaiment Structures for Nuclear Power Plants," which was reviewed and approved by the NRC in a safety evaluation report dated January 15, 1973. We, therefore, find it acceptable to use the BN-TOP-1 procedures and acceptance criteria at the Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit 1.
In the event that the test duration is equal to or longer than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />, we agree with you that the test would then be perfonned in accordance with the Beaver Valley Power Station Unit No.1 Technical Specifications, Appendix J to 10 CFR 50 and ANSI N45.4-1972.
