A OPERATIONAL

SUMMARY

JULY 1997 UNIT 1 Unit'l generated 867,614 megawatthours (MWh) (gross) electrical power during_ July with:a_ capacity factor of 100.9 percent. Unit 1 was-operating at-100 percent power at the end of July.

UNIT 2 Unit 24 generated 810,422 MWh (gross) electrical power during July with a capacity factor of 94.31-percent. On July 3 at 1530 EDT, an alarm was freceived on a high gas pressure on the.C main bank transformer.

Preliminary samples indicated a high level of combustibles. On July 4 at 0013-EDT,1 Operations initiated a power reduction. Following additional sampling,-indicating an acceptable level of combustibles, Operations l

Linitiated a power increase on July 4 at 1855 EDT. Samples were taken l

hourly during power _ escalation and twice daily once the unit reached steady state. Unit 2 was operating at 100 percent power on July 5 at 1030 EDT.-

On July 20 at 1239 EDT, an alarm was again received on high gas pressure on C phase main bank transformer. TVA decided to decrease reactor power

..to_approximately 20 percent and remove the-generator from the grid.

Unit-2 generator was taken off-line at 2322 EDT that day.- A stand-by main transformer was placed11n service, sand Unit 2 was tied online at 1940 EDT-on July 21. Unit 2 reached 100 percent power on July 23 at 0224-

.EDT.

-Unit 2 was operating at 100 percent reactor power at.the end of July.
