TEST APPLICATION OF TSIP TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION SELECTION CRITERIA At the January 21, 1986 Comission briefing on Technical Specification improvements the staff was requested to provide the Comissioners with an early copy of the draft results of its test application of the Technical Specification selection criteria recommended by TSIP. Enclosed is a draft report which provides the results of this work to date.
The staff plan for testing the TSIP criteria includes a trial application to both a PWR (Wolf Creek) and a BWR (Limerick). As can be seen from the enclosed draft report, the work on a PWR is further along. A meeting with the Westinghouse Owners Group to compare our results with a similar effort by the industry for Wolf Creek was held on January 28, 1986. We plan to do the same for Limerick during the month of February.
Our overall conclusion at this point is that the criteria recommended by TSIP are workable, but that some changes, as discussed in the enclosed draft, will likely be proposed as a result of this test application.
