ZION NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 - MASONRY WALL DESIGN,
,IE BULLETIN 80-11, MULTI-PLANT ACTION B-59 By letters dated' July 7, July 25, and November 6, 1980, the Commonwealth Edison Company (CEC) responded to IE Bulletin 80-11. This information was supplemented by letters dated July 12 and September 10, 1982. On September 12, 1983, the staff issued the Safety Evaluation Report (SER) concluding that of the 222 masonry walls that had been reviewed 18 walls using horizontal joint reinforcement'still do not meet staff criteria. On November 14, 1983, CEC submitted additional information relating to the 18 masonry walls. identified in the staff's SER.
We have reviewed the ~ submitted information and conclude that staff's concerns with the affected 18 walls are resolved and, therefore, for all. block walls at Zion facility, Items 2(b) and 3 of the IE Bulletin 80-11 are fully implemented.
Enclosed is our Supplemental Safety Evaluation. This letter closes the action on this issue.
