This refers to the routine radiological safety inspection conducted by Mr. R.
L.
Nimitz on December 17-19, 1986 at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
Inspection findings were discussed with Mr. J. Seery at the conclusion of the
inspection.
During
the
inspection we reviewed:
action on previous
NRC findings,
radiological controls for the outage, planning and preparation and ALARA. We
also reviewed the circumstances and corrective actions for several licensee
identified violations associated with vehicles leaving the site without being
released by radiation protection personnel.
Inspection findings are discussed
in the enclosed report.
One violation involving repeated release of trucks carrying materials from the
site without personnel performing proper radiological surveys was identified
and is included in the enclosed Appendix A.
You are required to respond to
this violation in accordance with the instructions included in Appendix A.
The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not
subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as
required by the Papenfork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
