SAFETY EVAI.UATION REPORT FOR MII.I. STONE NUCl. EAR POWER STATION UNIT NO. 3, N-1 1.00P OPERATION ( l.ICENSE CONDITION 2.C(4))

The staff is continuing its review of information submitted by you in support of your request for approval to operate with N-11. oops. Attached is our safety evaluation of protection system modifications for N-1 l.oop operation.

This evaluation contains 6 open items which must be resolved before the staff completes its review. Also attached, is a list of drawing errors encountered during our review of the design details for the reactor coolant system loop isolation valve interlocks. These errors should be corrected in a subsequent FSAR amendment.

Third, a list of of information needed to complete the supporting human factors engineering review is attached.

This information supplments previous evaluations contained in SER Section 4.4.7 and SSER 4 Sections 4.4.7 and 15.10. Additionally, we will forward the reactor systems safety evaluation and any related requests for-information when completed.

Please provide your responses to these requests for information or request additional time to provide your responses within 30 days of the date of this letter. The staff plans to complete its review of your responses within 30 days from the date of receipt of all the requested information.
