Subject: Inspection No. 50-293/87-11
A routine radiological controls inspection was conducted by Messers.
R. L. Nimitz and W. T. Cooper, Jr. on February 10-13, 1987. The findings of
the inspection were discussed with Mr. K. Roberts.
The inspection covered: status of previous findings and radiological controls
for the outage.
One violation was identified and is included in the enclosed Appendix A. The
violation involved five. examples of personnel not adhering to station
i procedures. The five examples indicate a need to improve personnel adherence
to station procedures. Similar concerns were discussed in NRC Inspection
Report No. 86-19.
You are required to respond to this violation in accordance with the enclosed
Appendix A. In your response, please discuss those specific actions planned
or taken by you to improve personnel adherence to procedures at Pilgrim Station.
The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not
subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget as
required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
