This refers to the rmatine safety inspection conducted by Mr. 'Henri Van Kessel

of this office on June.16-17 and June 27, 1988 to July 1, 1988 at the Calvert
Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Unit Number 1 in Lusby, Maryland of activities
authorized by NRC License Number DPR-53. Mr. Van Kessel discussed the
inspection findings with Mr.
L.' Russell and other members of your staff at the
conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are de cribed in-the NRC Region I
-
inspection report which is enclosed with thi, letter. Vithin these areas, the
inspection consisted of the witnessing of startup ph:.
< testing, the review
of post modification testing procedures and test results, interviews with
personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection no violations were identified. As detailed
in Paragraphs 4 and 6 of the enclosed report, two. items, that you are presently
evaluating and that require resolution, were designated as unresolved. This
pertained to training records, and calioration of test equipment.
No reply to this letter is required. Your cooperation with us in this matter
is appreciated.
