INTRAPLANT COMMUNICATI0HS SYSTEMS Pe; Graf d Gulf flucleae Station (GGNS), Unit 1 By lette*3 dated ?.inuary 10 ar.d May 28, 1986, the Mississippi Power & Light Comphny (MP&L) provided an fevaluation of the results of tests of the intra-plant comunfcations systems in accordahce with the requirements of the GGNS operating licenSo cor.Jition F.C.(24).
Inadequate communications between the control roem and the fire yater pu:np house, diesel generator rooms, and emergency core cooling r' stem pump rooms were found when the equipment in the rooms was renning. NP&L hac connitted in its May 28, 1986 letter to install atplified FA haacfsets, in the areas which were found to have inadequate commuMcations and to have tests completed by August 29, 1986. Tests of commufii:atiohs betweer che cof.rol rocm and the diesel generator rooms using anpiified PA fieadsets demonstrated thtt communications were adequate.
i The NSC staff hai reviewed the XP&L submittals of January 10 and May 28, 1986.
The staff concludes that the use of amplified PA headsets in areas found to have inadequete corsnur.ications is accestable provided that tests demonstrate their adequacy.
Instructions f6r use of the hrsdsets should be added to the GONS emergency plan and procedures, In c/ der to fulfill license condition E.C.(24), the heaosets mest be -installed, lested, and operable prior to startup foliowing thG first reftteling catage.
