Pressurizer Relief and Safety Valve Challenges In accordance with Ginna Station Technical Specification 6.9.1.5 which states, " Challenges to the Pressurizer Power Operated Relief Valves or Safety Valves shall be reported no less frequently than on annual basis," the following is submitted:

On October 23, 1986 at approximately 0853 hours0.00987 days <br />0.237 hours <br />0.00141 weeks <br />3.245665e-4 months <br />, a Reactor Coolant System High Pressure Transient occurred due to an internal event which caused pressurizer power operated relief valve (PORV) PCV-430 to lift once at its set pressure of 2335 psig. PORV PCV 430 performed as designed. More specific information on the above plant transient and reactor trip can be found in Ginna Station LER 86-008.

On November 28, 1986 at approximately 1116 hours0.0129 days <br />0.31 hours <br />0.00185 weeks <br />4.24638e-4 months <br />, a Reactor Coolant System High Pressure Transient occurred due to an internal event which caused pressurizer Power Operated Relief Valves (PORV) PCV-430 and PCV-431C to lift once at their set pressure of 2335 psig. PORV's PCV-430 and PCV-431C performed as designed. More specific information on the above plant transient and reactor trip can be found in Ginna Station LER 86-011.
