SUBJECT:
REQUESTS FOR EXTENSION OF THE COMMENT PERIOD - PROPOSED PART 171 During our review of the coments filed as a result of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for Part 171, we found that the following commenters specifically requested extension of the coment period:
- 1. Consolidated Edison Company of New York (see last paragraph of letter dated July 11,1986),
- 2. Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (see last paragraph of letter dated July 14,1986),and
- 3. Bishop, Libennan, Cook, Purcell & Reynolds - Joseph Knotts (see first paragraph of letter dated July 16,1986).
We note that on July 10, 1986, the request for extension of coment period by Jay E. Silberg, Esq., of Shaw, Pittman, Potts and Trowbridge was denied by Secretary Chilk. Since the Secretary addressed the extension request by Jay E. Silberg, we are of the opinion that his office will respond to the requests identified above and any others that might have been received. On this basis, this office does not plan to take any action on the extension requests.
