4.3.8.1 The provisions of Specification 4.0.4 are not applicable.

4.3.8.2 The above required turbine overspeed protection system shall be demonstrated OPERABLE:

g a.

At least once per 7 days by cycling each of the following valves from the running position and observing valve closure:

1.

Four high-presswe-ttsrtrine-contrcl valves,*

/.8 Four low pressure turbine combined intermediate valves, and

.2..E' Four high pressure turbine stop valves.

M l

C, d At least once per 18 months by performance of a CHt.HNEL CALIBRATION of the turbine overspeed protection instrumentaticn.

de*

At least..once per 40 months by disassembling at least one of each of the e

t-above valves and performing a visual and surface inspection of all valve

'sieats, disks and stems and verifying no unacceptable flaws or excessive L

corrosion.

If unacceptable flaws or excessive corrosion are found, all other valves of that type shall be inspected.

SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS 4.7.6 The main turbine bypass system shall be demonstrated OPERABLE:

a.

At least once pe ays by cycling each turbine-bypass valve through at least one complete cycle of full travel, and b.

At least once per 18 months by:

1.

Performing a system functional test which includes simulated auto-

.matic actuation and verifying that each automatic valve actuates to --

its correct position.

2.

Demonstrating TURBINE BYPASS SYSTEM RESPONSE TIME meets the following requirements when measured from the initial movement of the main turbi.,ne stop or control valve:

Y

'~'

a) 80% of turbine bypass system capacity shall be established in 5 0.3 seconds.

b)

Bypass valve opening shall start in 1 0.1 seconds.
