In response to your letter dated November 17, 1986, enclosed are the following documents which support the cost of $35,853 on Invoice No.
F0320 for Part 55 services from June 1985 through December 1985:
1.
Seven monthly business letters from DOE and Battelle Northwest and Region II's April 1,1986 fee report for consultant's review of medical reports for contractual cost totaling $17,065.
2.
Computer run showing breakdown of 354.5 professional staff hours by weeks, employees, activity codes and subjects.
We hope that this information satisfies your needs.
If you feel that any invoiced amount is not correct based on the information provided, you should give us the basis for your position, in writing, and we will respond to your request as soon as possible.
Before the professional staff hours and contractual costs are provided to us for billing, the hours and costs are verified and audited in accordance with the enclosed procedures that are used by the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. The detailed information that you have requested is not routinely provided to our office. Consequently, each request you send requires that we secure the data from other offices.
You indicated that the contractor cost " appears disproportionately high."
It is our understanding that during this and other review periods, contractors were used for much of the examination-related work and that there were many examinations.
