REQUEST FOR INDIVIDUAL SHOLLY NOTifE: ESSENTIAL SERVICE WATER PUMP DISCHARGE TEMPERATURE Your consent is requested to publish the attached Sholly Notice for Byron as an individual notice. The proposed amendment would change Technical Specification 3/4.7.5 to allow operation with the essential service water pump discharge temperature greater than 80 F, but less than 98"F, with no cooling tower fans running. Operation in this condition will only be allowed during Ultimate Heat Sink cooling tower performance testing.
Comonwealth Edison comitted to begin this testing in late April or early May 1987, and this comitment was referenced in one of the license conditions. The licensee realized only recently that the proposed amendment would be needed to run these tests.
If this notice is included in the next bi-weekly notice, it would delay the start of the cooling tower performance tests. The tests should be started in late April or early May before the wamer temperatures arrive, so that a broader range of test conditions are available.
