ENCLOSURE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - WNP-3 1.
With respect to deconvolution calculations:
a.
Provide plots of the response spectra at the foundation level and at plant grade together with comparisons with the design input.
b.
Provide comparisons of peak shear strains computed by SHAKE with available rock stiffness and camping data.
2.
With respect to the finite element calculations:
a.
Provide calculations from the finite element static calculations used to generate the embedment spring stiffness in the horizontal and vertical directions.
b.
Provide comparisons of the base and the sidewall interaction springs in the horizontal, vertical and rocking modes, c.
Provide computer models and output used for both NASTRAN and IMAGES-3D analyses, d.
Provide analyses to demonstrate that proper sidewall interaction springs can be obtained by fixing nodes along the basemat.
e.
Provide justification for the sidewall damping magnitudes which was used.
f.
Provide justification for the use of static analyses in place of frequency dependent sidewall interaction coefficients.
g.
Provide comparisons of sidewall interaction coefficients with available analytical approaches.
h.
Provide verification procedures used for IMAGE-30 code.
3.
With respect to the half-space seismic models:
a.
Provida a comparison of the finite element finite boundary calculations with the half-space approach.
b.
Provide descriptions of the computer program used to compute the seismic response.
c.
Provide the computer output used to generate the floor response spectra.
