ENFORCEMENT DISCRETION FOR NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS 50-338 AND 50-339 This letter acknowledges your letter (serial no.88-706) of October 24, 1988, requesting relief from the action statement requirements of Technical Speci-fication (TS) 3.4.6.1.
In a telephone conversation between Mr. B. Wilson of my staff and Mr. G. Kane of your staff on October 21, 1988, you were informed that enforc' ment discretion was granted for two eight-hour periods during which the containment particulate and gaseous radioactivity mon. coring systems would be repaired on each plant.
After each eight-hour period for repair, if necessary, the Action Statement of the applicable TS would be complied with, it was our understanding that during tre repairs, several compensatory neasures would be in effect.
The measures consist of an increase in frequency of reactor coolant system (RCS) teak rate calculations to once per eight hours, and frequent monitoring of containment and RCS parameters which would include containment temperature and huidity, containment sump level and flow rate, and RCS makeup and letdown flow rates, i
