Dear Mr. Denton:
In a letter dated August 30, 1985 f rom Mr. O. W. Dixon, Jr., to Mr. H. R.
Denton, South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&C) requested an amendaunt to the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Technical Specifications, Section 3/4.4.5, " Steam Generators." This amendaent would allow for the repair of steam generator tubes by an NRC approved method, and would provide for specific alternative actions to tube plugging when such actions had been reviewed and approved by the NRC. As a result of discussions with the NRC Staf f, SCE&C further proposes the bases to the Technical Specifications be revised as shown in Attachment 1.
This revision would provide consistency between the bases and the Technical Specifications and accurately reflect the requirements fo nd therein.
