Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by M. Jordan,
R. Kopriva, and J. Halloy of this office on January 28 through March 9,
1987, of activities at LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2, authorized

by Operating Licenses No. NPF-11 and No. NPF-18 and to the discussion of
our findings with Mr. G. Diederich at the conciusion of the inspection.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identified areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
However, this report contains a description of an Enforcement
Conference conducted on February 13, 1987, regarding performance of second
verifications and recognition of off-normal conditions. The results of
this Enforcement Conference will be transmitted under Jeparate correspondence.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC's Public Document
Room.
