Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. A. Gautam of this
office on July 9,10, and 29,1986, of activities at Zion Nuclear Power Station
authorized by NRC Licenses No. DRP-39 and No. DPR-48 and to the discussion of
our findings with Mr. George Plim1 on July 10, 1986, and with Mr. T. Printz on
July 29,1986 at the conclusion of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection; however, an ongoing NRC review is being performed to evaluate the
impact of discrepancies found in field installed Raychem splices.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a co)y of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the iRC
Public Document Room.
