Dear Mr. Keppler:
On March 23, 1984, the Commonwealth Edison Company notified your office of a potential deficiency reportable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e) regarding inconsistencies found in certain documentation of the structural steel installed by G. K. Newberg at our Braidwood Station.
Reference (a) prcvided information concerning this matter to fulfill the thirty day reporting requirement.
For tracking purposes this deficiency was assigned Number 84-05.
The purpose of this letter is to update the status of corrective actions taken to resolve this issue.
Status of Resolution It was previously reported in Reference (a) that a review of all Structural Steel Installation Tra.eler (SSIT) packages would begin following approval of G. K. Newberg's document review procedure (Procedure 29).
Procedure 29, Rev. 4, was submitted to Commonwealth Edison Company on October 3, 1984.
Training of review personnel will be conducted the week of October 22, 1984.
SSIT reviews will oe initiated after review personnel have been trained.
It is anticipated that the review will be completed by January 15, 1985.
A status report will be submitted following completion of the SSIT review.
