This letter refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. Harold I.
Gregg of this office on February 2-6, 1987 at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station,
Plymouth, Massachusetts. Mr. Gregg discussed the results of the inspection
,
with Mr. K. Roberts and other membe 5 of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The objective of this inspection was to review Boston Edison Company's activi-
ties related to snubber surveillances and to review the status of several pre-
viously identified unresolved issues. During this inspection the status of the
Target Rock safety relief valves with Stellite 21 pilot discs placed in service
in December 1984, was also reviewed. Within these areas, the inspection con-
sisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, in-
terviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
