This transmits the Examination Report of Operator Licensing Examinations .
conducted by USNRC Region I at the Beaver Valley I Facility the weeks of
February 3 and February 10, 1986. At the exit interview held on
February 13, 1986 the preliminary results of these examinations were
discussed.
The large failure rate on the examinations resulted from the candidates'
lack of knowledge of operating and administrative procedures specific to
Beaver Valley Unit 1.
The depth of knowledge varied between candidates and
areas which indicates an inconsistency in the information being retained from
the training program. Also, candidates relied heavily upon their operating
experience at Shippingport which in some cases was not applicable to Beaver
Valley Unit 1.
