As you are aware,10 CFR 170 of the Commission's regulations for license and inspection fees was revised effective June 20, 1984. Section 170.12(b) of the revised rule provides that for applications for pemits, licenses, facility reference design approvals, and special projects which have been on file with the Commission for review for six months or longer, billings would be made at six.mor.th intervals or when the review is completed, whichever is earlier.
Consistent with the requirements of 10 CFR 170.12(b), we have completed the cost analysis for the Catawba 1 OL application review for the period June 24, 1984 through January 17, 1985, the date the full (100%) power license was issued. The cost through that period is $456,993. The enclosure is a breakdown of the review costs by program office. The Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation has made cost adjustments of $3,100 from the previous reporting period, leaving a revised cost total for the period of $453,873. When the costs of $453,873 are added to the costs of $2,750,467 from the previous billing report, the cumulative costs of
$3,204,340 exceed by $126,940 the maximum fee of $3,077,400 as stated in 10 CFR 170.21. Accordingly,$126,940 has been subtracted from the costs of $453,873 leaving a balance due of $326,933 for the issuance of the operating license. The Office of Resource Management has been notified to bill your company for this amount. When making payment, please make reference to the invoice number.
