Supplementary information: We are providing further information regarding the guidance consolidation project and to invite your participation in the ongoing development of the project.
As part of its redesign of the materials licensing process, NRC is consolidating and updating numerous guidanos documents into a single comprehensive reference source for each type of license or licensing issue. (Please see the onclosed August 27,1997 letter to Robert M. Quillin for background.) Since the beginning of the project, the following five guidance NUREGs have been published:

Volume 6:
Program Specific Guidance About Master Materials Licenses, expected to be published in Draft in February 1998; Volume 7:
Program Specific Guidance About Part 33 Irradiator Licenses (other than self shielded), expected to be published in Draft in March 1998; Volume 8:
Program Specific Guidance About Academic, Laboratory, and Industrial Uses of Small Quantities of Byproduct Material Licenses, expected to be published in Draft in May 1998.
The following six guidance NUREGs will be started during calendu year 1998; Volume 9:
Guidance on Administrative lasues and Procedures, due to begin on March 2,1998; Volume 10:
Program Specific Guidance About Opecific Licenses of Broad Scope, due to begin on April 6,1998; Volume 11:
Program Specific Guidance About Manufacturin0 and Distribution Licenses, due to begin on June 1,1998; Volume 12:
Guidance For Preparing and Reviewing License Applications involving Ownership and Bankruptcy lasues, due to begin on August 3,1998; Volume 13:
Program Specific Guidance About Special Nuclear Material Licenses of Less Than Critical Mass, due to begin on September 14,1998; Volume 14:
Program Specific Guidance About Service Providers to Licensees, due to begin on November 2,1998, in the past, some States have assisted in reviewing the guidance or participated in the development of the documents. Their participation has added greatly to the quality of the final reports. NRC is continuing to seek more Agreement State participation in development of the documents or to serve on management review teams.
