UPDATE THE APPLICATION SAFETY ANALYSIS REPORT (TAC NOS. L32039 &
L32040)
Dear Mr. Miller:
l This refers to your applications dated July 18,1997, roquesting amendments to the Certificate of Compliance hr the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant and the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. The amendments were requests to change due dates for issue 2 in the Plan for Achieving Compliance with NRC Regulations at the Paducah Plant (DOE /OPO-2026) and Plan for Achieving Complian:e with NRC Regulations a' the Portsmouth Plant (DOE /ORO 2027).
Our review of your application has identified additional information that is needed before final action can be taken on your request. The additional information, specified in the enciocure, should be provided within 30 days of this letter. Please reference the above TAC Nos, in future correspondence related to this request.

The original request was to change the due dates for issue 2 to October 31,1997.1 hat date has past and is moot.
2.
In response to conceins about a revised Chapter 3 ' Facility and Process Description," a commitment was made to have a revised Chapter 3 submitted by October 31,2000. The amendment request needs to be changed to reflect this commitment.
3.
To determine the adequacy of the October 31,2003, end date for the Chapter 3 revisions, provide a detailed schedule outlining milestones with a prioritization of systems and the safety basis for the prioritization.
