April 25, 1995 hTHonorable Lauch Faircloth, Chairman Subcommittee on Clean Air, Wetlands, Private Property and Nuclear Safety

-Consittee on Enviro ment and Public Works United States Senate Washington, DC 20510

Dear Mr. Chairman:

Enclosed for the information of the Subcommittee is a copy of a notice of final rule to be published in the iederal Reaister.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is amending its regulations on standards for protection against radiation.

The amendments to the rule replace requirements that were inadvertently deleted when the old Part 20 requirements were deleted on December 22, 1993 (58 FR 67657), and corrects reference and typographical errors found in the revised Part 20.

In that rule change, effective on January 1, 1994, a number of provisions were removed or modified to reflect the NRC's revised strndards for radiation protection. This action restores those requirements.

Sincerely,

,~.* '[
