Gentlemen:
This refers to the special announced inspection conducted by Mr. I. T. Yin of
this office on March 6 through 27, 1986, of activities at the LaSalle County
Station, Unit 1 authorized by NRC Operating License No. NPF-11 and to the
discussion of our findings with Messrs. R. D. Bishop and J. T. Fox at the
conclusion of the inspections.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance with the matters discussed during the meeting held in this
office on March 17, 1986, we understand that you will initiate and complete
the following activities for LaSalle Unit I during the present refueling
outage:
Functionally test all snubbers listed in the Technical Specification.
The snubbers in RHR Loop A and Loop B should receive priority for testing.

Using approved procedures conduct inspections of the RFR Loop A and Loop B
piping systems.
Expeditiously perfonn the RHR system operability analyses.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Conmission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
-
Public Document Room.
