CORRECTIVE ACTIONS INSPECTION REPORT 50-410/86-07

This letter conveys the results and conclusions of the inspection of the

audit results and corrective actions for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation's

(-NMPC) Supplement to Engineering Assurance Audit No. 50 of Nine Mile Point

Unit 2 Project dated September 27, 1985. The inspection was conducted by

the NRC's Office of Inspection and Enforcement on January 3, 1986 and

January 7, 1986 at the Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation's (SWEC)

Cherry Hill Operations Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The inspection

team was composed of personnel from NRC's Office of Inspection and

Enforcement and consultants.

The specific objectives of this inspection were to (1) ensure that the

conclusions in the SWEC Audit were technically supported, and (2) verify

that the open items identified in Inspection Report 50-410/85-28 were

incorporated into the program or otherwise satisfactorily resolved.

The status of open NRC inspection items from Inspection Report 50-410/85-28

l dated September 12, 1985, are given in the attached inspection report. All

NRC action items identified in the previous report are closed.
