March 7, 1986 Docket No. 50.354 APPLICANT: Public Service Electric & Gas Company FACILITY: Hope Creek Generating Station
SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF RADIATION MONITORING SYSTEM MEETING On January 17, 1986, a meeting was held in the Bethesda, Maryland offices of the NRC to discuss the. deferral of certain Radiation Ponitoring System (RMS) components at Hope Creek. Meeting attendees are. identified in Enclosure 1 to this meeting summary.
In a letter dated September 10,1985 (R. Mitti, PSE&G to W. Rutler NRC) PSE8G notified the NRC that certain components of the RMS would not be operational at fuel load. After reviewing the deferred components, the staff sent the applicant a letter (dated November 21, 1985, W. Butler, NRC to R. Mitti, PSE&G) coninenting on the deferred components. At the request of the applicant, a meeting was held January 17, 1986 to discuss the RMS at Hope Creek.
At the meeting, the applicant briefly described the RMS which will be in-place at fuel load. The applicant provided a handout, Enclosure 2, which details the fuel load RMS.
As a result of the meeting, the staff requested the following information:
- 1. confirmation of completion of seismic testing for the sample flow splitter skid and suppression pool-monitoring circuit boards,
- 2. description of the procedures to be used when performing emergency dose assessment calculations manually,
- 3. temperature qualification for the drywell leak detection RMS, and
- 4. output units on the RMS instrument cabinet.
The applicant supplied this information in a letter dated February 12, 1986.
(C. McNeill, PSE&G to E. Adensam, NRC).
