Response to Open Items of SSER 4, Section 8.1,
" Electrical Power Systems - General"
Dear Sir:
The following provides responses to the SSER 4, Section 8.1, open items:
o Diesel Generator Control Drawings The applicant committed to include the condition of the diesel generator control switch being in the local position in the list of conditions that can render the diesel generator in-capable of responding to an automatic emergency start signal.
Response
FSAR Table 8.3-8, " Conditions That Can Render Diesel Generator Incapable of Responding to an Automatic Emergency Start Signal",
will be amended as attached to reflect the subject condition.
Also, station procedures which address this condition identify that the diesel generator will not start on an SI signal with the control switch in the LOCAL position.
This change will be incorporated in the FSAR in a future amendment.
o Control Circuitry of Recirculation Isolation Valve The applicant committed to install another indication from a stem-mounted switch on Recirculation Isolation Valve SI-V-93.

Mr. Vincent S. Noonan Page 2 Re sponse An existing stem-mounted switch on Valve SI-V-93 has been utilized to provide an independent alarm for valve position indication. A change in valve position will be alarmed by initiation of the Bypass and Inoperable Status Indication System for safety injection. Attached Schematic 9763-M310890 Sil-843b is provided to identify the stem-mounted switch.
Also see enclosed logic drawing LBC-1-SI-040741 (Sheets 1 and 2) for additional information.
We trust this information is acceptable and request that this be reflected in the next supplement to Seabrook's SER.
