Stanford introduction During the month of October,1997 GE Nuclear Energy inspection Services performed automated ultmsonic examinations (UT) on four (4) Coro Shroud Circum /orential Wolds, located inside the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) at the Public Service Electric & Gas, Hope Creek Generating Station, Unit 1. This report serves as the final documentation of the examination results obtained during these examinations. Examination Roaulrements The examinations were conducted in accordance with the following GE Nuclear Energy Procedures as referenced below. These procedures are included within this report. A list of other documents and procedures useful to these examinations can be found in the

General Electric Nuclear Energy, inspections Services Procedure GE HPK 1017VO, Rev. O, ' Procedure forInstallation and Removalof the Shroud OD Trocker UTInspection Tool *. Examination Data acquisition started on October 5,1997 and was completed by Ot.tober 11, 1997. During this period, ultrasonic examinations were per'ormed on four (4) of the Core Shroud Circumfotential Welds and adjacent base material. The scope of examination was to examine from at least one side, all accessible circumferential weld length of the selected welds. Lim %tions were present, lim! ting full veld length examination of the welds scanned. Refer to Figum f. Shroud Roll-out for an illu6 ration of UT coverage. A total of 1628.75* of the possible 2583.44' of combined total weld length of the four welds was examined from at least one side of the weld. Refer to Table 1, Examination Summary, for examination results and circumferential I coverages. 2

The ultrasonic technique Ltoksed was a Tri-Modal Search Urvt combining tn6 use of a 45' shear wave. 60* refracted longitudinalwave and OD creeping wave, integrated into one compact search unit. Examination volumes are defined by procedure as the 10 and OD surfaces of each weld side acfpcent base material for a distance from the weld edges extendmg to 0 75*.
