SUBJECT:

CONFIRMATORY SURVEYS OF AREAS IN THE SPECIALTY FUELS BUILDING - EXXON NUCLEAR COMPANY (ENC)

LICENSE NO. SNM-1227, DOCKET NO. 70-1257 It is recommended that the following areas located within the Specialty Fuels Building, Exxon Nuclear Company, Richland, Washington be released for unrestricted use. The areas have been surveyed by the ORAU survey team and have been found to meet the NRC guidelines for release:

(a) Room 173 (b) Room 155 (c) Room 156 (d) Room 158 (e) Room 158A (f) Shower in Room 166A The hot spots in Room 173 referenced in ORAU's letter dated March 21, 1986 (copy enclosed), and again in ORAU's draft report on page six (copy enclosed) have been decontaminated and surveyed by ENC. The results of that survey are stated in Exxon Nuclear Company's letter dated March 19, 1986 (copy enclosed).

The results appear to be acceptable.
