(1) USNRC Generic Letter 97-04, " Assurance of Suflicient Net Positive Suction Head for Emergency Core Cooling and Containment Heat Removal Pumps", dated 10/7/97.
On October 7,1997, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the referenced generic letter regarding a safety-significant issue which may have generic implications for degrading performance of emergency core cooling system (including core spray and decay heat removal) and containment heat removal pumps. The generic letter required, within 30 days, a written response indicating (a) whether or not the requested information will be submitted, and (b) whether or not the requested infonnation will be submitted within the requested time period. By this letter, GPU Nuclear is providing the required 30-day response, for TMI-1, by committing to provide the requested information within 90 days from the date of the subject generic letter, if you have any questions or comments on this matter, please contact Ron Zak, Corporate Regulatory A!Taas at (973) 316-7035.
