NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-325/97-14 AND 50-324/97-14
Dear Mr. Hinnant:
.
On December 12, 1997, the NRC completed an inspection at your Brunswick
reactor facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
Dur_ing the period covered by this inspection, our inspector found that your
staff generally took a safety conscious approach to the radiation control
activities conducted at the Brunswick plant.
However, two violations of NRC
requirements were identified-one related to a Locked High Radiation Area not
controlled in accordance with Technical 3pecification 6.12.2 and another for
failure to initiate a condition report for this adverse condition in
accordance with your corrective action management procedure.
The violations are cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation and the
circumstances surrounding the violations are described in detail in the
,
enclosed report.
Please note that you are required to respond to this letter
and should follow the instructions specified in the enclosed Notice when
,
. preparing your response. The NRC will use your response, in part, to
determine whether further enforcement action is necessary to ensure compliance
with regulatory requirements.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice." a copy of
this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
