SUBJECT.: THIOKEL CORPORATION APPLICATION - CONTROL N0. 07159 (EG&GSOURCES)
' Based on our review of the information contained in the subject '
application, we conclude that the EG&G type 343812 with up to 40 microcuries of nickel-63 per source and type 343814 with up to 8 85 microcuries of carbon-14 per source are acceptable for custom licensing to Thiokol. It is our understanding that these units are leak tested by either Lockeed or Quantic Industries, Inc., when assembled in the firing unit. After assembly the units exhibit no external radiation hazard, Licensing Conditions
- 1. The units should bd labeled to meet the requirements of Section 20.203, 10 CFR Part 20,
- 2. No further leak testing by Thiokol is recommended since maximum source activities do not exceed 100 microcuries of beta emitters
[see special Condition 10A(2)].
