A routine safety inspection was conducted by R. Struckmeyer of this office -

on April 28 - May 2, 1986, of activities related to the Environmental Radiation '

Monitoring Program at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. Areas that were

reviewed included sample collection, control of laboratory activities, quality

control, meteorological monitoring, audits, and reports.

Particular emphasis was placed on the enviromental TLD monitoring program due  !

to concerns raised about this program in the last inspection of this area. -

The results of this inspection indicate that there has been little or no

improvement in the TLD program due to a lack of quality control. Most of the  !

improvements discussed in the previous inspection report (50-293/83-08) have l

not been implemented, t
