.q VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM REOUEST FOR RFLIEF RR-26 By letter LCV-1016-A dated September 10,1997, information was provided in response to the NRC letter dated August 8,1997, which requested additionalinformation

'D _ concerning the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Units 1 and 2, Second Ten-Year Inservice Inspection Program. Specifically, information was provided in response to the NRC questions concerning our requested use of AShE Section XI Code Cases N-533, N-544, and N 566, as discussed in Requests for Relief RR-26, RR-22, and RR-25, respectively. Included in our September 10,1997, letter were revisions to Request for Relief RR-25 and RR-26.

In the revised Request for Relief RR 26, the alternative examination did not include a requirement for a 4-hour hold time at nominal operating pressure during the pressure test to allow for any leakage to penetrate the insulation. However, during the IR7 maimenance/ reft,: ling outage Class I leakage test the system had been pressurized at nominal operating pressure for a, proximately 3 1/2 hours prior to the start of the inspection walkdowns. In the future we will include a 4-hour hold time at nominal operating pressure as an addition to our alternative examination for Class 1 pressure @i g
