Division of Systems Integration FROM:

SUBJECT:

NORTH ANNA POWER UPGRADE Plant Name:

North Anna 182 Docket No.:

50-338/339 Licensing Status:

OL TAC No.:

57927/57928 Responsible Branch: ORB #3 Project Manager:

Leon Engle Review Branch:

ICSB Review Status:

Complete By letter dated May 2, 1985, Virginia Power Company requested an increase in the licensed power-level (uprate) at North Anna 1 and 2.

The licensee has j

reviewed the heat balance diagram to determine the effect of the uprate on Balance of Plant instrumentation, control valves in the feedwater, condensate, main steam and heater drain systems and has determined that all the equipments have sufficient margin at the uprated conditions. As a result, no setpoint changes are required other than those already specified by Westinghouse.

Westinghouse has specified new setpoints for overtemperature and overpower delta T (OTAT & OPAT) functions which were calculated based on core thermal l

limits for the uprated power. As the calculation of OTAT and OPAT setpoints and the associated Technical Specification changes fall under the area of responsibility of Core Performance Branch, we suggest that the review of Technical Specifications involved with OTAT and OPAT setpoints should be handled by them.

ICSB has no input to the safety evaluation report. According-ly, ICSB considers its action on TAC Nos. 57927 and 57928 as complete.
