SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-361/98-17; 50-362/98-17
. Dear Mr. Ray:
From October 4 through November 14,1998, a routino inspection was conducted at your
San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3, reactor facility. The enclosed report
presents the scope and results of that inspection.
During the 6-week period covered by this inspection, your conduct of activities at the
San Onofre facility was generally characterized by safety-conscious operation, sound
engineering and maintenance practices, and careful radiological work controls,
in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosurs will be placed in the NRC Public Dmument Room (PDR),

with you.
