SECY-G5-306 - STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING THE I!4Pt FPFr'TtTIO!! 0F APPEllDIX R TO 10 CFR 50 the attached states that has been told that many licersees have taken advantage of the new interpretations contained in SECY-85-306 and that they have used thern to develco their fire protectier programs. I would appreciate learning which licensees are already using the "new interpretations." I would also like to knnw how any such rse c' the new interpretations will affect the compliance schedules contained in the E00 memorandum to the Corxtissinr date('

Decerber 26, 1985 regarding the status of implementation of Appendix R.

Finally, I wnuld like to know how such use is consistent with repeated 4 at.Surerccs by the staff that all fire protecticn SERs, including those for plants licensed after January 1, 1979, have been based on Gereric letter 83-33,or the existing Branch Technical Position.
